Taking a peek at Anthology Magazine

Taking a peek at Anthology Magazine

Style :

We've heard there's a new *print* design magazine in town- a great surprise considering the dreary state of the publishing industry. We haven't seen it in person, but here's to the new kid on the block- Anthology- described as "A new quarterly shelter and lifestyle print magazine that takes a narrative approach to its coverage of home d├ęcor, travel, design, entertaining, and culture. We envision the magazine as a collection of stories shared with readers."

Ok. Not gonna lie. Would love to see a photograph rather than an illustration on the next cover. Especially of beautiful San Francisco!

Anthology is the brainchild of San Francisco-based Meg Mateo Llasco and Ahn-Mihn Le, veterans of the newspaper/publishing/graphic design worlds. A few snippets of the photograhps you'll find inside:

You can preview the more of the inaugural issue here. From what I've seen, it seems rather Domino-esque, but perhaps with a more relaxed vibe. I'm interested in the interview with Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge. She's got a fabulous bed and upholstered headboard (this is an old pic) that is featured in this month's issue.

A few more preview shots...loving any room with a big vintage map!

One comment- a single issue is $12 (as one friend mused, "is it printed in gold?" Ha!). But we do understand there is a lot of overhead that goes into creating these magazines...no one's doing it for their health!
